I designed and painted this Van Halen-inspired goalie helmet. This was a great lesson in masking layers and also controlling different paint varieties. Using a clear coat between the layers ensured the metallic paint would be safely sealed when masking the other layers — omitting this step caused the masking tape to pull the metallic flakes out of the paint.
